What Will You Learn in the Accounting Diploma Course?

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites required to enter the Diploma of Accounting.

However, it is preferred that students:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English and Maths, or equivalent)
  • Hold the Certificate IV in Accounting OR have some accounting industry experience
  • Have basic computer skills preferably with Latest Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Qualification Pathways

After completing your Diploma course, you can continue your studies with the FNS60215 Advanced Diploma of Accounting. The advanced diploma can lead to career outcomes such as financial accountant, taxation accountant or management accountant. You may be able to use the advanced diploma as an entry path into a Bachelor of Accounting qualification (or other business related disciplines).

Once enrolled in this course you may also consider additional training to complement your accounting skills:

Course Outline & Structure

The FNS50215 Diploma of Accounting is a nationally recognised and accredited Australian accounting course.  It is ideal if you are seeking Tax/BAS agent registration and/or wish to enhance your skills and knowledge to take on more senior roles in accountancy.

Expected Study Hours: This accounting qualification course has an expected study time of 1200 hours.

Assessment Methods

This Diploma course is assessed using written questions, problem solving in scenarios or simulated activities, case studies, projects, observations and by gathering & creating documents.

Certification Requirements

This Diploma of Accounting (FNS50215) course is an approved course you can use to fulfill the ‘Primary Qualification’ requirements for Tax Agent registration (see TASA 2009, schedule 2, part 2, item 203).

You can also use this qualification to fulfill the training requirements for BAS agent registration provided you have also completed the unit “FNSBKG404 – Carry out Business Activity and Installment Activity Statement tasks” (or equivalent). This unit is included in the Certificate IV in Bookkeeping (FNS40215) and Certificate IV Accounting (FNS40615) courses offered by Inspire Education.
