What Will You Learn in the Bookkeeping Course?

Inspire’s Cert IV in Bookkeeping (FNS40215) is designed to teach you the many facets of bookkeeping practices used within the industry today. You will learn how to establish and maintain accounting systems (cash and accrual), prepare financial statements, and how to maintain asset and inventory records.

Our bookkeeping course covers how to carry out Business Activity and Instalment Activity Tasks, and how to Establish and Maintain a Payroll System using Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) approved assessment methods.  This means that by completing this course you will meet the education requirements for BAS agent registration in Australia.

Additionally, throughout your studies, you will develop a broad range of general bookkeeping and financial industry skills  including the principles of professional practice, customer service, quality communication, and health and safety processes.

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites required to enter this bookkeeping qualification. However, it is preferred that students:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English and Maths, or equivalent)
  • Hold a Certificate III in Accounts Administration OR some industry experience
  • Have basic computer skills preferably with Latest Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Qualification Pathways

After completing the Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, learners can continue their financial services studies with the Diploma of Accounting FNS50215. The Diploma qualification is suitable to pursue roles such as an Assistant Accountant, Company Bookkeeper or Supervisor of Accounts Department.

*Students are required to complete assessments under supervision to complete this unit. The assessments are “open book”, and assessment files will be distributed to the student at the start of the supervised session. Supervision is conducted online using video conferencing software, so you can complete the assessment from the convenience of your own home using your own computer. Supervised assessments are scheduled on weekdays during business hours only, and may take up to a full day per unit (2 units total) to complete. Students may need to schedule additional sessions to complete assessments if they are found Not Yet Competent on the first attempt.
