In this course, you will learn how to process financial transactions, prepare statements and reports, carry out BAS tasks and set up and maintain a computerised accounting system.

This FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting course includes units covering GST and BAS taxation principles which are assessed using TPB approved methods. This means that by completing this qualification, you will meet the educational requirements for BAS agent registration in Australia.

As part of your course you will also explore and develop a broad range of general accounting and financial industry skills, such as quality communication, professional practice, creating business documents, and making decisions in a legal context.

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites required to enter the Certificate IV in Accounting.

However, it is preferred that students:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English and Maths, or equivalent)
  • Hold a Certificate III in Accounts Administration OR some accounting industry experience
  • Have basic computer skills preferably with Latest Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

*Students are required to complete assessments under supervision to complete this unit. The assessments are “open book”, and assessment files will be distributed to the student at the start of the supervised session. Supervision is conducted online using video conferencing software, so you can complete the assessment from the convenience of your own home using your own computer. Supervised assessments are scheduled on weekdays during business hours only, and may take up to a full day per unit (2 units total) to complete. Students may need to schedule additional sessions to complete assessments if they are found Not Yet Competent on the first attempt.
