Brisbane & QLD Safety Courses

The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is a nationally accredited course for Safety Officers and OHS Representatives, but there are many other safety qualifications available today.

There are safety short courses that target areas like construction, mining, fire prevention and other industries where workers face additional risk or need special preparation for the equipment and conditions involved to carry out their responsibilities in their workplace.  Training courses like these give workers a certification in a specific skill set or knowledge area that says they know how to comply with the safety regulations in their line of work and are competent in operating all relevant equipment.

Inspire Education does not deliver training in these areas. Click on the course categories below to find out where you can take up safety short courses in Perth and Western Australia.

1. White Card for Construction

The White Card is also known as the Work Safely in the Construction Industry course. Anyone seeking to start a career in construction needs the White Card including project managers, apprentices, trades persons and even self-employed workers. This induction course is a requirement across Australia and it replaces old qualifications like the Blue, Red and Green cards.

Work Safe Australia introduced the new White Card and made it uniform for all states and territories. In other words, the induction card workers receive are valid even if they trained in a different state or territory. This training covers the occupational health and safety rules and legislation all workers must comply with, how to identify and control risks in construction sites, and procedures for communication and reporting incidents.

2. Working Safely at Heights

The Work Safely at Heights course is made for anyone whose job responsibilities involve the risk of falling from one level to another. This is often the case in industries like mining and construction where workers often transfer between raised platforms.  Other professions like window cleaners and building maintenance workers also look to gain this training.

When you take up this course, you will be taught how to prevent falling accidents, how to use safety equipment, anchoring methods and other practical skills. Some providers also include a rescue portion which has its own special requirements and procedures.

Other courses include general emergency awareness where employees are taught how to react when an emergency arises. Part of this training is identifying safe zones for buildings where residents can assemble after an evacuation. You will also be taught about basic fire fighting equipment like how to use fire extinguishers and how the alarms work in your workplace.
