Are you considering taking on full-time study? Or perhaps like many Australian’s you are returning to study after a long break. The great part about gaining a vocational education and training qualification is that it can not only give you a competitive advantage in the job market, but it will help you get on the path to your dream career! A training and assessment qualification, like the Cert IV Training and Assessment means you are adding a training qualification as well as a new skill to your current industry experience or trade skills!
However, many potential students find returning to study difficult or have difficulty navigating Australia’s educational system. For your convenience I have found a great video that outlines the basic layout of Australia’s schools, VET (TAFE) and university system:
Australia’s Current Education and Training Climate
The video looks at the education of Australia and the Government’s current education spending. At the moment, Australia spends more than $62 billion on education and is divided into the approximate areas:
• $33 billion on schools
• $6.8 billion on TAFE
• $17 billion on university
Overall, schools have seen a 3.7% increase, TAFE almost an 11% increase in funding and universities stand at receiving just over 9% extra in government funding. The increase in TAFE spending for the vocational education and training sector is largely attributed to non-government sources.
• 9,477 schools in total across the country
• 6,752 state schools
• 1,708 Catholic schools
• 1,107 private schools
• Overall there are around 3.5 million students attending school
