The TAE40116 course is now Australia’s latest standard for workplace and vocational trainers, superseding the old TAE40110 qualification. If you previously completed a training and assessment course, you can now easily update your qualification with our TAE40110 to TAE40116 upgrade course, and gain the newest standard for Australian trainers.
Australians who currently hold the superseded TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment can now upgrade to the new TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. If you have previously completed this old Cert IV TAE course, and want to gain the latest standard for workplace and vocational trainers in Australia, then upgrading to the TAE40116 is ideal for you.
The TAE40110 upgrade allows you to maintain your status as a fully-qualified trainer. This upgrade course will help you gain credit for course units you previously studied and your existing experience in the vocational education and training industry to fast track your new qualification.
In addition to acknowledging your current qualification and work experience, the new TAE upgrade course includes gap training for the new units and competencies included in the TAE40116 course. This includes the TAELLN411 – Address Adult Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Skills unit, and the TAEASS502 Develop Assessment Tools unit, and other training for units and/or competencies not included in the old Cert IV TAE.

To update your TAE40110 qualification, simply follow the steps below:
SIMPLE AS THAT!
To enrol in the TAE40110 upgrade course, you must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in your desired teaching and assessing area. This includes having broad knowledge and recent experience in your industry, or holding a relevant qualification.
You must also hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or at minimum a Statement of Attainment that includes the following units:
TAEDES401A – Design and develop learning programs
TAEDES402A – Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
TAEDEL401A – Plan, organise and deliver group based learning
TAEDEL402A – Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
TAEASS401B – Plan assessment activities and processes
TAEASS402B – Assess competence
TAEASS403B – Participate in assessment validation

Learners must gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Conditions must be typical of those experienced in the training and assessment environment, and include access to:
*Real vocational learners: Learners undertaking training required for their employment or future employment and directly related to the specific skills needed for that employment

As a holder of the TAE40110 qualification, you will automatically get credited for 5 out of the 10 course units through a direct credit transfer. These units are:
You will also get partial credit and gap training for 3 course units and avoid having to redo many course assessments. These units are:
You will complete all 2 new remaining assessments through gap training.
Gap training will be through self-paced online learning and/or face to face workshops depending on your chosen delivery method. This includes of a mix of case studies, projects, role plays, presentations, observation, and written questions.
If you have additional years of substantial and relevant work experience in an RTO/TAFE (at least 5 or more years), or in vocational education and training-related roles, you may gain more course credits through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). You will need to provide evidence to support your level of skills and knowledge for your TAE40110 to TAE40116 Upgrade.
