What Will you Learn?

The Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety is designed to develop your understanding of OHS Management Systems. It will build on your existing OHS knowledge and experience, qualifying you to participant in the coordination of, and management of OHS information and data systems. You will learn to assist in the design and development of OHS arrangements, apply principles of OHS risk management and manage hazards in the workplace. Additionally, in the Diploma of OHS course you will learn how to monitor and facilitate the management of hazards associate with a plant, facilitate the application of OHS principles to control OHS risk and participate in the investigation on incidents.

The Diploma of OH&S is designed to meet the needs of OHS professionals and managers in both businesses and industry.

Course units

The Diploma of OHS (BSB51307) is comprised of 8 units – 5 core units plus 3 elective units. This Workplace Health and Safety Diploma is now the minimum requirement for OHS management in many workplaces and is designed to enable participants to contribute to an organisation’s OHS Management Systems.

The Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety course has been specifically designed to develop knowledge and skills required for working as an Workplace Health and Safety professional within any work context. It is a qualification for those seeking a practical approach to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, supervisors safety officers, safety representatives, safety committee members and OHS managers.

Prerequisites

While there are no formal prerequisites for this qualification, the Diploma of OHS does assume that you already have the knowledge of OHS principles and practices (either by having completed the Cert IV OR through a good amount of working experience with OHS responsibilities as the main part of your role, preferably in a supervisory capacity) and requires that you have sound language and literacy skills, and basic word processing.  You will also need to be able to have access to a workplace to complete the workplace-based assessments (please talk to us if you need assistance with this). Inspire will provide you qualified trainers, all learning materials, flexible delivery options including telephone and email support.

Training Schedule

The most effective and popular method of delivery for the OHS Diploma is via distance in the form of self-paced learning. You will have 24 months to complete the course from your enrolment date through distance-learning, and a continual student intake is offered on this basis.
