Are you already experienced in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and want to take your career to the next level? The new Diploma of OHS will build on your existing knowledge of occupational health and safety and teach you the necessary skills to participate in the management and systems of OHS in a variety of work environments. The Diploma of OH&S is designed for those that have already completed the Cert IV in OHS, or for those with a good level of working experience in OHS, such as an OHS officer or assessor.
The Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety is designed to develop your understanding of OHS Management Systems. It will build on your existing OHS knowledge and experience, qualifying you to participant in the coordination of, and management of OHS information and data systems. You will learn to assist in the design and development of OHS arrangements, apply principles of OHS risk management and manage hazards in the workplace. Additionally, in the Diploma of OHS course you will learn how to monitor and facilitate the management of hazards associate with a plant, facilitate the application of OHS principles to control OHS risk and participate in the investigation on incidents.

The Diploma of OHS (BSB51307) is comprised of 8 units – 5 core units plus 3 elective units. This Workplace Health and Safety Diploma is now the minimum requirement for OHS management in many workplaces and is designed to enable participants to contribute to an organisations OHS Management Systems.
The Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety course has been specifically designed to develop knowledge and skills required for working as an Workplace Health and Safety professional within any work context. It is a qualification for those seeking a practical approach to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, supervisors safety officers, safety representatives, safety committee members and OHS managers.
While there are no formal prerequisites for this qualification, the Diploma of OH&S course does assumes that you already have the knowledge taught in the Cert IV OHS and requires that you have sound language and literacy skills, and basic word processing. It is also preferable that you will be able to access workplace to complete the workplace-based assessments (can be a present workplace or a friend/colleagues —thought if you are in between work alternative arrangements can be made). You will be supported by qualified trainers, all learning materials, flexible delivery options and telephone and email support.
The most effective and popular method of delivery for the OHS Diploma is via distance in the form of self-paced learning. You will have 12 months to complete the course from your enrolment date through distance-learning, and a continual student intake is offered on this basis.
