The Cert IV OHS Course is now the minimum requirement for health and safety management in the workplace and is designed to enable you to participate in an organisation’s OHS Management Systems. The Cert IV OHS Course will teach you how to comply with workplace health and safety legislation, how to identify hazards, and how to assess and control occupational health and safety risks. Additionally, you will learn how to contribute to health and safety in the workplace environment, including aiding in the implementation of OHS strategies to control risks and emergency procedures. The Cert IV OHS (BSB41407) is comprised of 9 units – 6 core units plus 3 elective units. This workplace health and safety course is now the minimum requirement for OHS safety officer duties and management in many workplaces and is the course units are designed to enable participants to contribute to an organisation’s OHS management systems with confidence.
There are no formal prerequisites for the Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety, however it does require that you have sound language and literacy skills, and basic word processing. You will also need to be able to access a workplace to complete the workplace-based assessments (can be a present workplace or a friend/colleagues and alternative arrangements for those in between work without access to a workplace). To support your studies you will be provided with an OHS safety industry expert trainer, all learning materials, flexible delivery options, and telephone and email support.

The Cert IV OHS is offered as either a blended-delivery course or through distance-learning. The blended-delivery course offers a 4 day face-to-face workshop run in many major Australian cities throughout the year. Courses are offered on various dates in many states throughout the year.
