Course Outline & Structure

Expected Study Hours: The course has an expected study time of 602 hours. This equals approximately 12 hours per week over 12 months, but you can work at your own pace and complete the course faster if you wish!

Assessment Methods: The course is assessed through written questions, practical assessments and case studies.

BSB41015 Course Units

The Certificate IV in Human Resources BSB41015 is comprised of 10 units – 6 core units and 4 electives. Our HR elective course units have been carefully chosen to ensure they meet the needs of a wide range of jobs requiring human resources skills.

BSBHRM403 – Support performance management processes
BSBHRM404 – Review human resources functions
BSBHRM405 – Support the recruitment, selection and induction of staff
BSBWHS401 – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements
BSBLDR402 – Lead effective workplace relationships
BSBWRK411 – Support employee and industrial relations procedures

Electives (complete 4 of 4):

BSBADM405 – Organise meetings
BSBINN301 – Promote innovation in a team environment
BSBRES401 – Analyse and present research information
BSBRSK401 – Identify risk and apply risk management processes

This course shares a number of units with qualifications such as the BSB40515 Certificate IV in Business Administration.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification, however it is preferred that students:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English and Maths, or equivalent)
  • Hold a Certificate III in Business OR some relevant industry experience
  • Have basic computer skills preferably with Microsoft Word and Excel

It is ideal if students can access a workplace to complete workplace-based assessments. Where students do not have access to a workplace, they may complete these assessments using simulated workplace activities included with the course.

  • Video recording equipment (e.g. mobile phone or video recorder) OR access to a supervisor to observe presentations
  • At least 2 people to provide feedback on presentations

Students will need access to a workplace to complete workplace-based assessments. Where the student does not have access to a workplace, they may complete these assessments using simulated workplace activities included with the course.
