Course units

The FNS50204 Diploma of Accounting comprises of 17 units packaged as 4 industry core units, 5 prerequisite units, 5 sectorial units, and 3 elective units. This Diploma level Accounting course covers all facets of accounting and provides you with the skills to advance your career in the financial services sector.

Of the 17 units, the 4 industry core units and 5 prerequisite units are also found in the Certificate III in Financial Services (Accounts Clerical).  The 5 sectorial core units and 3 elective units selected are from appropriate Diploma level qualifications.

Of those 3 elective units, at least 1 unit must be selected from the list of elective units listed on the “Elective Units”, the remaining 2 units may be selected from the list of units of any suitable Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma level qualification.  These final 2 units may be selected from other currently endorsed Training Packages (in accordance with other packaging guidelines for the qualification), or from the suggested electives overleaf.  One’s choice of electives should be appropriate to the level and integrity of the qualification, and designed to meet the needs of the student and their particular workplace.

Entry Requirements

Competency in the 5 pre-requisite units, available as sectoral core and elective units from the Certificate III in Financial Services (Accounts Clerical) must be demonstrated prior to awarding of this qualification.

When selecting units from suggested elective units, please note that FNSACCT503B is a prerequisite unit to FNSACCT607B and that FNSRETA309B, FNSRETA310B, FNSICORG301B and FNSICACC301B are prerequisite units to FNSICORG509B.

It is preferred that individuals considering this qualification have achieved the Certificate IV in Financial Services or other relevant qualification/s, OR have provided evidence of competency in the majority of units required for the Certificate IV in Financial Services or other relevant qualification/s OR have some vocational experience assisting in a range of support roles without a formal business qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is offered to any Learner who can provide evidence of competency for the units offered within the qualification. Learners simply complete an enrolment form indicating they would like to apply for full/partial RPL. Once enrolment is confirmed the trainer calls the Learner to go through all potential RPL opportunities, before sending through an RPL pack to help with evidence collection. In this way the RPL process is seamless and simple.

Delivery & Training Schedule

The Diploma of Accounting FNS50204 is delivered by the Australian College of Training and Employment (ACTE—Provider No 31455) who will deliver this accounting course and provide your qualification upon completion. You will have 12 months to complete the course from your enrolment date if you completing your courses through distance learning. ACTE have a continual intake of students on this basis. Courses are offered to at various times in many states throughout the year.
