Jump Start Your Training with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

What is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is the opportunity to have your previous skills, knowledge, training and experience counted towards a formal statement of attainment or qualification. RPL recognises your knowledge and skills, no matter how, when or where you developed them.
Recognition of prior learning can be used to get credit for part of a course and sometimes a whole qualification! You can save yourself time and money by taking advantage of RPL when you have the chance.
How does the RPL process work?
You can apply for through Inspire Education by enrolling in the course you wish to complete and indicating you wish to be considered for RPL on your enrolment form (there is a relevant field in our online store and on our paper/PDF enrolment forms).
You will need to provide us with evidence of your achievements and experience. We then compare your evidence to the requirements of the qualification for which you are seeking RPL. Once we have verified you have the required skills and knowledge, we will grant you credit. You may gain RPL for one or more units in a qualification.
What kind of evidence can you use for RPL?
We need evidence that shows you have up-to-date skills and knowledge required to hold the qualification in question. Evidence can include:
• Formal and informal qualifications such as qualifications, certificates, statements of results, statements of attainment or course transcripts.
• Resume, job description or work history.
• References from paid or unpaid work experience.
• Samples of your work, such as publications, reports or articles.
• References and letters from your clients or employers.
Your recognition of prior learning assessor will also be in touch to discuss your evidence and ask questions to help confirm your skills and knowledge. You might also be asked to take an interview, challenge task or practical assessment to demonstrate your abilities.
Why is evidence required for RPL?
We know the majority of people are honest and we’d love to be able to just accept your word that you have the skills and experience required. However training providers such as Inspire Education must maintain the quality of Australian qualifications.
In order to make sure your qualification continues to be recognised and valued by industry, we must take the recognition of prior learning process seriously. We can only grant RPL based on the evidence you can provide us.
Why can’t you tell me exactly how much RPL I will get up front?
Examining evidence and mapping it to specific units of competency in a qualification is a surprisingly time consuming process. It can actually take longer to assess an RPL claim than mark the standard course assessments because each RPL claim is unique and needs to be verified and mapped against the course requirements.
There are several common situations where we can offer RPL:
1. RPL with official vocational qualifications
In some cases there is a clear and easy recognition of prior learning process which allows us to give an upfront assessment of how much RPL you will receive. For example, if you are upgrading an old TAA40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to the new TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, there is a “map” between the old qualification and the new, which makes it simple to determine which units you can gain credit for and which new units you need study.
In situations where we have a relatively straightforward RPL process, we have a discounted RPL price available. Please check your course brochure for more information.
2. RPL with other training and experience
If you are providing evidence of years of work, formal and informal training and other relevant work and life experience it becomes much trickier for us to grant RPL. As the evidence you’ve provided is unique, it can take an experienced and talented trainer a considerable amount of time to do the proper due diligence on your RPL claim – perhaps as much as 80 hours! Obviously we don’t know how much RPL you will be granted until we actually assess your evidence. This requires such a huge investment time and resources that we simply can’t offer upfront quotes in these cases.
3. Mix of qualifications and experience
In many of the applications we receive, RPL seekers have a mix of formal qualifications and other training and experience. In these cases we might be able to confidently predict you’ll get RPL for units already completed as part of your previous accredited qualification. To receive recognition for you experience and informal training achevievements, you will need to provide evidence and have it assessed by our RPL assessor.
Take advantage of RPL!
Recognition of prior learning is your opportunity to have your training, experience and success in life formally recognised and counted towards an official qualification. If you want to apply for RPL for your course, just tick the box on your enrolment form. Our RPL experts will be in touch to talk you through the process and help you gather evidence for your claim.
To discuss RPL opportunities, please call Inspire Education on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au.

i am a qualified primary school teacher since 1985 but i have had to stop teaching full time due to health issues. i am interested in completing a teachng english as a second language qualification. would i qualify for recognition of prior learning? are there any discounts for pensioners? thankyou
Hi Laura,
Great question and I was interested to know the answer myself so I had a chat with one of our TESOL trainers. He said we can’t offer RPL for general teachers because TESOL is such a specialised type of teaching. The analogy he used was it’s like having a truck license as opposed to a car license.
If you have done ESL/EFL teaching in the past and can provide third party verification, then it is possible to get RPL for some parts of the program. This would be done on a case by case basis and we couldn’t give an estimate of how much RPL you’d get until we’ve gone through the RPL process.
As for the second question, we already price our courses very competitively but if you call one of our enrollment coordinators on 1800 506 509 they might be able to help you out!
Hello am considering doing Cert 1V TAE, have Cert 1V Community Services Aged Care and Cert 1V Disability Services. Curious if there is any RPL for TAE having these qualifications, thanks : )
Hi Joy. If you have the documents supporting your competency in the relevant units, then you may get the credits. Please enquire now here so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you.
Hi,
I would like to do my TAE Diploma in Training & Assessment. In 2010 I completed the following units for TAA50104. I almost finished the course but then found out TAFE was teaching a superseded course. Please advise what RPL credits I can get.
with my statement of academic record. This is what I’ve done:
TAACMQ503B: Lead & Conduct Training &/or Assessment Evaluations
TAACMQ505B Lead a team to Foster Innovation
TAADEL503B Provide Advanced Facilitation to Support Learning
TAADEL501B Design & Develop Learning Strategies
TAADES502B Design & Develop Learning Resources
TAAENV501B Maintain & Enhance Professional Practice
TAATAS501B Undertake Organisational Training Needs Analysis
TAATAS504B Facilitate Group Processes
If I can’t get RPL credits for these units I’m not intered in doing the Diploma. Please advise.
Thanks,

Hi Lorri. Please enquire here at the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course page so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you to discuss.
Two questions,
1. I hold a Diploma of Primary Teaching, a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education and wish to do the Vocational Trainers Certificate. Would these qualifications attract a RPL?
2. My sons fiance is here on a Holiday/Work Visa which allows her 17 weeks study. She would like to do Cert 3 or 4 in Disability Care Services ( the base level one). Can she do this online with Inspire? Or is this time limit prohibitive.
Best wishes and thanks
Monica
Hi Monica,
1. You will more than likely receive RPL for parts of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. We’ve already designed a Fast Track Upgrade Program for Teachers, some of the units in your Vocational Trainers Certificate may count and you likely have relevant experience too. To know exactly what RPL you will receive, one of our RPL experts will walk you through the RPL process and properly assess your qualifications and evidence.
2. We do have the Certificate III in Disability Work available. While the theory based work can be completed pretty much anywhere in the world, there is a mandatory vocational placement (80-240 hours of work) in an Australian disability care service required to complete this course. It obviously takes some time to set up and complete. As a result, we don’t normally accept enrolments in this particular course from students with less than 6 months of study time in Australia on their Visa. It’s simply so we don’t waste everyone’s time and money and leave students with a half-finished course they can’t complete. Most courses without a vocational placement can be studied from just about anywhere.
HI,
I am currently working as an assistant child worker (Cert,111 Childhood education) in a same company for 8 years now. Is there a chance to upgrade my career through RPL in Diploma of early childhood education?.
Thank you,
Ana
Yes, Ana. You may get credited for your work experience. If you have the documents to support your competency, you may get RPL. Kindly enquire here so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you.
Hi,
I’m currently doing the Diploma in Accounting with the prerequisite package. I currently work as an accounts assistant and would like to rpl as many courses (at least the accounting ones). What would I need to do to provide evidence of my skills and knowledge ? Thanks.
Hi Safiya,
Are you studying with us? The best thing to do is get in touch with your trainer. They’ll know exactly what you need and be able help you with evidence collection. Thanks!
i am a trainer and there is an offer of doing RPL for certificate three student however i have no enough information about the RPL assessment and how i can do it . please if you able to provide me with information or a website that could support me,
Thanks
Hi Fatima,
You should consult with industry authorities like the Australian Skills Quality Authority for more information about delivering RPL as a trainer.
Hi Inspire

Hi,
I am a High School Visual Arts teacher, and have been so for the past 13 years. I have an interest in the cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I hold two university degree’s one in Arts(visual arts) and the other in teaching. I also have completed the cert IV in workplace training and assessment (2005). Would I be a recognised for these high qualifications and gain RPL?
Thanks,
Elaina
Hi Elaina,
Impressive list of qualifications! There is certainly the possibility of overlap between your current accreditation and the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. We don’t have a nice clear “map” to transfer of credit between any of those qualifications and the Cert III ECE, so we’d need to go through them step by step to identify equivalent competencies. I’m not able to give you an upfront estimate of how much RPL you could receive and we won’t know for sure until we’ve taken you through the RPL process.
To discuss RPL opportunities, please call Inspire Education on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au
I am looking at your Diploma of WHS. I have a current accreditation from Workplace Heath and Safety as a Safety Representative. Is this enough of a prerequisite to enrol in the diploma course ? Would there be a view to RPL also ?
Hi Gavin,
Great to hear you’re continuing your studies in work health and safety! To enrol in the Diploma of Work Health and Safety, you must hold the 5 core units from the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. This is a mandatory requirement, so it’s not really something we can waive as much as we might like to! What we can do is look at evidence of your current training and experience and grant RPL for competencies in those 5 units. I’m not a WHS RPL expert, so please contact 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au so one of our lovely enrolment coordinators can help you further.
Regards,
Will.
I would like to make an enquiry regarding recognized prior learning and evidence of competency displayed in my current position as a HSR. I have also completed a cert iv in front line management which included WHS modules. Is there an avenue for me to show evidence prior to starting this course?
Hi Mathew,
Please get in touch with an enrolment coordinator on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au, they’ll be able to help you check your unit codes and work out which of the Cert IV WHS units you’ve already completed.
If the WHS modules you’ve completed don’t share common units with our WHS courses, an assessor can look at the competencies you’ve demonstrated and may be able to give you credit towards our WHS courses anyway. If you talk to an enrolment coordinator, they may be able to get a rough estimate from a trainer if the trainer has experience with those modules.
With your workplace based experience, as I hopefully explained in the article above, only a qualified assessor can really examine and give you an accurate assessment for RPL. Because this is a very time consuming process (often taking more time to assess RPL evidence properly than it would to mark the equivalent workbooks), it’s not something we can do before a student enrols.
Hope that helps you Matthew. Please contact an enrolment coordinator to discus your RPL options further by calling 1800 506 509 or emailing enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au
Regards,
Will.
I have just completed my Aged Care cert III and am now working in disability. I would like to complete my Disability Cert II and am told there are only 2 extra modules to do, is this correct? Can I just do the 2 modules and have a Cert II in both?
Hi Tanya,
We don’t offer the Certificate II in Disability, so I’ll talk about the Certificate III in Disability in my answer.
The Cert III Disability and Cert III Aged Care do share many common units. Our 2 courses courses have 9 units in common plus 5 units unique to each course. Most of these unique units are actually core course units, which means you must complete them to get the qualification. A trainer would be able to look at the units you’ve completed and give you a more definite answer, but it’s most likely you will need to do 5 extra units to gain the second qualification.
Please give us a call on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss this with one of our lovely, experienced enrolment coordinators.
Thanks,
Will.
I am a Malaysian Chinese, graduated from Chinese High School in Kuching, Sarawak. Went to New Zealand years ago and graduated with B.Sc. in Physics. Been teaching physics and high school maths in English for more than 20 years. Change tract and worked in medical and electronics field as an engineer for 15 years. Now retired and wish to teach English to Chinese speaking students in Australia or New Zealand. Can I take up the TESOL course?
Hi Jong,
Yes you can take up the TESOL course provided you can fulfil the entry requirements. To study the Certificate IV in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, you must:
– Have evidence that you completed Year 12 English (equivalent or greater qualifications are acceptable)
OR
– Where evidence of Year 12 English equivalent or greater cannot be provided applicants will need to pass Inspire Education’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy Entry Assessment before commencing the TESOL course.
During interview and in pre-interview language tasks successful applicants will show:
– An appropriate awareness of the English language as it is used and its difficulties for learners
– An ability to analyse language at a suitable level and to express ideas clearly
– A willingness to engage in discussion of teaching/learning approaches
– Self-awareness and flexibility of approach
– Willingness to interact, listen and respond appropriately
– An ability to take pressure and maintain positive rapport
– A competence in written and spoken English that will enable them to teach the language to students without causing error
Please contact an enrolment coordinator on 1800 506 509 to discuss your training options or visit our shop to get started straight away!
Hi there,
I have completed Cert II and III (hospitality management) and participated in several company training programs as a trainer/consultant.
Does this leave me eligible for any measure of RPL for the Cert IV course?
I am looking for “more ammo” to apply for international positions and countries such as the USA rely heavily on certification and/or degrees so i am obviously looking to fast track as much as i can
Additionally, do these three certifications allow any RPL for diploma study?
Regards,
Nathen Surman
Hi Nathan,
Sounds like you’ve got a great plan and we’d love to help you get there! I’m assuming you’re looking to do the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment?
I had a quick look at the Certificate II & III in Hospitality Management units and can’t see any overlap with the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment units. That means it’s unlikely we can provide quick and easy credit for full course units. We may be able to recognise your achievements in company training programs as a trainer/consultant, but we’d need an RPL expert to go through the RPL process with you and examine your evidence to make a proper assessment. I’m not able to provide an up front estimate unfortunately.
As for the Diploma of Training Design and Development, it really builds on the skills you learn in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Again, you may be able to receive some RPL for the company training programs you’ve completed. It is strongly recommended that you work in an RTO or TAFE in a training role if you plan to study this Diploma because it requires extensive access to learners, training resources and a range of learning environments.
Nathan, if you want to get the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment as quickly as possible, there are 2 ideal options for you:
– Enrol in the 6 month online Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, go through RPL and complete any remaining competencies required to complete the course through online learning.
– Enrol in the full 2 week face-to-face delivery. Tackle and complete most of the course in a classroom with a group of students, guided and supported by an expert trainer.
Please get in touch with an enrolment coordinator on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss your options. When you’re ready, simply enrol through our online shop.
I wasn’t planning to do yet another qualification, as I already have a BA In primary education/drama, PGCE in teaching ages 3-11, Montessori Nursery certificate, Post Grad Dips in both TEFL & SEN & a Diploma in Professional Counselling. I have taught for 20 years, in 8 countries, including Australia where I am a permanent resident. I plan to live in Vic from early 2015 and it seems that KG classes there are centre-based, not school- based… Which means I need the Dip in Early Childhood Education and Care, even though it is to tech 4 year olds which I have done for many years elsewhere! It,s very frustrating, not to mention time consuming and expensive. So… i am looking for the cheapest course I can find that gives me RPL. Do you think you will be able to grant me any RPL based on my previous qualifications and experience?
Thanks!
Hi L sa,
Sorry to hear you’ve been caught out by the latest childcare regulations! Sounds like you have plenty of relevant training and experience under your belt. It is likely you’ll be able to receive some RPL for your achievements. Unfortunately I can’t give you an upfront estimate, we really need an expert RPL to take you through the complete evidence gathering and assessment process in order to tell you exactly how much RPL we can grant.
If you’d like to discuss the course, please give us a call on 1800 506 509 or contact enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au.
You can enrol in the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course immediately through our online store. Make sure you select the ‘Apply for RPL’ button during the enrolment process and an RPL expert will be in touch soon after your enrolment is completed to take you through the process.
Thanks!
Hi William
I will complete my Cert IV in Training and Assessment at the end of November 2014. At which time I should be free to undertake a Cert IV Tesol and possibly travel from Regional Victoria to Brisbane for the initial 5 day face to face class in December which I understand is followed up with on line distance learning.
Please advise if RPL will apply in my case and if so how many units.
As a Job Seeker, money is a factor. I currently hold a Health Care Card and would like to know if this also would attract some consideration of fee reduction
I am anxious to commence training and seek employment (potentially overseas).I look forward to your reply via my e-mail address.
Regards
TM
Hi Theresa,
That’s a great question! I’ll get in touch with our TESOL trainer to see what we can do and send you an email shortly with answers to all your questions.
Cheers,
Will.
Hi, I currently hold a cert 4 in education support chc41708. I am considering doing a diploma in education support, can I get rpl for the above? and if so, how many units will I have to complete to do diploma? and how long will it take to complete?
Hi bms,
We do not offer either qualification so I am not familiar with the RPL opportunities. A training company that does deliver training and assessment for those qualifications should be able to answer your questions. Thanks!
Will.
Hi William
I have been an English and ESL teacher for nearly 4o years and it seems as though my College where I teach want a TESOL qualification rather than my CELTA which along with my degree and teaching qualifications, has always been recognised here and around the world. Isn’t TESOL an umbrella acronym for many ESL qualifications and what RPL could I receive if I sign up for the course?
Thank you
Regards
Robert Wilson
Hi Robert,
Your experience as an ESL teacher and CELTA qualification is most likely relevant to the Certificate IV in TESOL competencies. Depending on what evidence of competency you can provide, we can offer RPL for part or all of the course. However, we cannot say how much RPL you will receive until we have thoroughly assessed your evidence.
Please call us on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss the course with one of our lovely enrolment coordinators.
I have a statement of Attainment for train small groups (bsz404a) and a Statement of Attainment for Plan Assessment(bsz401a), Conduct Assessment (bsz402a) and Review Assessment (bsz403a) from FESA, and was thinking of doing cert 4, what rpl will i recieve and what is required to complete cert 4 in training and assessment thanks
Hi Wayne,
Those units have been deemed partially equivalent or equivalent to units in the new TAE40110 qualification. It’s likely we will be able to offer some RPL for your previous training. We do need to thoroughly assess your evidence before we can tell you exactly how much RPL you’ll receive.
As part of the RPL process, we will need to see:
Evidence of vocational currency (e.g. 3rd party employer/associate report
outlining your training/assessment activities) to ensure your training
experience is up-to-date.
Any other relevant evidence to support your RPL claim.
A qualified assessor will then examine your evidence and let you know how much RPL you will receive. You will then complete the remaining competencies required to gain the TAE40110 qualification. This will include completing written questions and activities, problem solving scenarios, projects, and delivering training to students.
Please contact 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss your situation with one of our experienced enrolment coordinators. Thanks!
I have the NEBOSH OHS Diploma (UK) …..plus 14 + years as a safety advisor. Will this be enough to get me on the Australian Work Health and Safety Diploma ? Or even the next level up ? I want to polish up my knowledge.
Hi Joanne,
Sounds like you have heaps of relevant experience on top of your qualifications. We will be able to examine both and offer you RPL based on our assessment of your evidence. However, we won’t know how much RPL you’ll receive until we’ve actually completed that assessment.
One more point – you must hold 5 core units from the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety in order to enter the Diploma of Work Health and Safety course. We do offer a bridging course that will allow you to complete just those 5 units rather than the full Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification. You’ll find more information in the Diploma of Work Health and Safety info pack, or simply call 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss your training options with one of our helpful enrolment coordinators!
Thanks!
Hi
I enrolled in your course Oct 2013 Blended Cert IV Training and Assessment. I completed a 5 day intensive and the rest was to be done online.
I commenced fulltime work in a nurse education role my title Clinical Development and Support Nurse with a National Company. I contacted your centre in June and they said the course I enrolled in was now expired. my options were to re enrol at full cost to me then complete the second half of the course over 5 days. The cost quoted to me was more than I had paid originally. Due to working Full Time and the sudden Illness of my Father over the remaining course time I was unable to complete the rest online. My father has since died and I still work fulltime in an education role. It is a requirement of my position that I hold a Cert IV training and assessment. Is it possible to get RPL for the 5 days I have done through you then apply for RPL based on my work experience without having to re enrol . The 5 day material has not been submitted for marking and the person I spoke to would not let me do so unless I re enrolled. I have all the materials.
Thanks
Hi Cynthia,
Someone from the training department will give you a call soon to discuss your situation and see what we can do to help. Please note we’re on Christmas break from the 23rd December and reopen 5th January 2015. We’ll try to get in touch before then, otherwise we’ll be in contact early in the new year when we reopen. Cheers!
I have a cert lv in training and assessment, I have a diploma in business, identify and respond, first aid and diploma in HR and an advanced gymnastics accreditation. I have worked in child care for 20years and currently work as a children services manager for 6 sites. How difficult is the RPL and how much time would it take. What kind of information would be needed from my past and current Childcare employers. I would like to complete my diploma in child care
Hi Simone,
I’ve passed your enquiry on to the child care RPL team. They will be in touch with you shortly to have a chat about your RPL opportunities.
Thanks!
Will.
Hi
I am just about finished my CERT IV WHS with Inspire. I was looking at doing the CERT IV in Human Resources. Which units would I get RPL’s on and what sort of discounts apply, as I read on your web page that this is often the case?
Thank you
Hi Kate,
You can simply compare the units in the two courses to work out which ones you have already completed in your Cert IV WHS and will be directly credited to your Cert IV HR. In this case, there are 2 units common to both qualifications:
BSBWRT401A – Write complex documents
BSBRSK401A – Identify risk and apply risk management processes
Please contact your enrolment coordinator on 1800 506 509 to find out what discounts we can offer you.
Thanks!

hi I’m planning to finish my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. I have already finish my Certificate III in Children’s Services. I have also done a few modules from the Diploma. I am thinking if you can tell me help me to what is my best next step? I think RPL is the way to go instead of completing all the modules that I have finished already. Thanks
Hi Mary,
RPL will actually save you a heap of time AND money, while getting you on track to achieve your career goals in early childhood education. Since you already have your Certificate III, you can enroll in the Diploma “Fast Track Entry” option and get a special, discounted price on your training. This will immediately give you credit towards your complete Diploma qualification. Then simply indicate on your enrolment form that you wish to apply for RPL and our friendly trainer will check which Diploma course units you’ve completed and give you additional credit towards your new Diploma.
I’ll ask someone to get in touch with you now, and you can also simply call 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to speak to an enrolment coordinator and get on track for your new Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification. Thanks!
Hi I’ve been working as a community support worker for over 12 months, I have done a manual handling competency and medicines competency and also have my first aid, but I have not yet completed my cert 3 in aged care. I have decided I would like to have my cert 3 and maybe go on to do cert 4 if I get a letter from my employer to give you details of previous learning am I able to use this towards my cert 3 in age care in the community
Hi Julie,
That’s really a question best addressed to a qualified aged care trainer. You can contact us on 1800 506 509 or at enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au. Otherwise, grab a free info pack for the Cert III Aged Care here and we’ll be in touch shortly to discuss your RPL opportunities.
Hi can I use a uk NEBOSH general certificate and IOSH certificates for RPL against a cert IV in WHS.
Hi George,
That’s really a question best answered by a qualified WHS assessor. Give us a call on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au now to discuss your training and RPL opportunities.
In the Cert 4 Training and assessment does it matter in what order the information is learned? i.e., can I do the assessment components first? My employer needs extra assessors rather than trainers at this time to get staff assessed for accreditation.
Cath
Hi Cath,
We’ve clustered the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course units into just three workbooks; design; delivery; and assessment. While we do have a recommended study plan for the three workbooks, when you choose online study you do have the flexibility to complete the assessment workbook first. Give us a call on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to take advantage of our current massive course sale (get in quick, ends February 24th 2015!).
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a Registered Nurse with the Phillipine Nursing Board, holding a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing. I am currently working at a medical city in Saudi Arabia, after having qualified as a Nursing Specialist, with the Saudi Council for Health Studies. My total nursing experience is 9 years.
As an Australian Permanent Residency holder (secondary applicant), I would like to know the appropriate certificate I can take up in Aged care (3 or 4) as well as RPL opportunities, based on my qualifications and experience.
Warm Regards,
Ederly Gamboa
Hi Ederly,
The Certificate III in Aged Care is the best place to start. You can learn more about the Certificate III course by going to the course page here and requesting a free information pack. Once you obtain your Certificate III in Aged Care, you’ll hold the prerequisite units required to continue your studies with the Certificate IV in Aged Care.
With your previous training and experience, there may be RPL opportunities available to you, but that assessment really needs to be conducted by a qualified aged care trainer and assessor.
Please contact us on 1800 506 509 to discuss your training and RPL opportunities, or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au.
Thanks!
Hi.
I am interested in undertaking Cert IV in Training and Assessment. I have 3 years of primary school teaching experience and evidence of UNI teaching studies at masters level undertaken in my home country Slovakia. Will I be able to apply for RPL? Would a letter from the Department of Education (Slovakia ) confirming 3 years of fulltime teaching considered as relevant evidence? I can also provide all of my achieved credits and exams from UNI studies.
Thanks,
Edita
Hi Edita,
Those are really questions best answered by qualified assessors on our RPL team. Contact us on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss your RPL options.
Thanks!
Many years ago I completed a Train the Trainer CN404 and advanced and went on to teach at Skillshare which was a government arm providing training for unemployed and those returning to work after many years absent. I undertook this role for five years with high job placement results back into the workforce. I have since used by training skills in hospitality and HR management, as one does in every position they hold. Would this training and experience be recognised for RPL for the Cert IV in Training and Assessment. Thank You

Thanks.
I was teaching in Adult Education in Scotland and attained an Undergraduate Certificate in Adult Education at Stirling University.
I had previously attained the D32 & D33 in T & A
I was also a trainer & assessor for the British Computer Society.
In Australia I was a casual lecturer teaching Adult Literacy (CGEA) up until 2 years ago –
Would I receive any RPL based on the UK qualifications.
Regards
David
Hi David,
We need to have a qualified assessor check your evidence before we can make an RPL assessment. Contact us on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss your training.
Thanks.
Hi William
I am looking into the Certificate IV inTraining and Assessment, I have the following qualifications and was wanting to know if I will be able to apply for RPL.
Certificate IV Frontline management
Diploma of Management
Many thanks
Annette
Hi Annette,
We can provide direct credit for any course units you’ve already completed. If you have your statement of attainments handy, check the codes of the units you’ve completed against the units in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course. There may be other opportunities for RPL, but we need a qualified assessor to examine your evidence before we can make a proper assessment. Contact us on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss your training.
Thanks!
Hi, I’ve had nearly eighteen years experience raising my own four children, and looking after up to six other children at once (as well as my own) for hours at a time. I would love to work in childcare, but unfortunately don’t have the paper qualifications. Would I be eligible for RPL based on my above situation?
Hi Cherie,
We really need to have a qualified assessor examine your evidence before we can make an RPL assessment. Contact us on 1800 506 509 or email enquiries@inspireeducation.net.au to discuss your training.
Thanks.
Hi, i would like to know, l have my cert3 in aged care and certificate Iv in home and community care, do you think i would get some RPL on these two courses, should i do the cert3 or cert IV in Disability, many thanks abigail
Hi Abigail,
Yes, there should be several course units shared between those qualifications and the disability certificates. You can compare the unit codes on your statement of attainments with the units in our Certificate III in Disability course to get some idea of which units will be directly credited.
When you enrol, you will need to submit scanned copies of your statement of attainments to receive RPL. If you have other qualifications and are not sure if they will be useful or not, submit them anyway as they may contain completed subjects that are equivalent to a unit required in your current course. If there is anything that can be used toward your course, it will be authenticated with the issuing RTO and then credited towards your Certificate III in Disability course.
Thanks!
I have done my Business Administration IV in 2012. My subjects were
Organise Meetings
Organise Business Travel
Make a Presentation
Review and maintain a website
Design a database
Design and develop complex text documents
Develop and use complex spreadsheets
Monitor a safe workplace
Administer Contracts
Arrange Contracts
Do you reckon I could get any RPL ‘s with this to do Cert IV Bookkeeping?
Hi Maryke! That’s a good question.
Just based on the list of you gave, you share “Develop and use complex spreadsheets” with the Cert IV Bookkeeping. This means that you’re likely to get credit for that specific unit.
Have you taken a look at the Bookkeeping units? If you have experience doing work related to them, it’s best to discuss it with our RPL Assessors and see whether you can get additional credit. They’ll help you determine what evidence you need to get RPL and for which units. You might be eligible for a special price too if you reach 6 units of RPL.
Just sign up for an info pack on the Certificate IV in Bookkeeping course page so you can talk with an RPL assessor and explore your options. Cheers!

I completed a Cert IV TAE in 2010 and would like to update it. Can you help with this?
Thanks!
Jo
Hi Joanne! The Cert IV TAE (TAE40110) is the latest qualification for trainers and assessors. Is this the qualification you took in 2010? If yes, then you might already be updated but you can still add on the TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy. This is a unit that is expected to be added to the Cert IV TAE soon.
If you have another qualification, then you may be looking for the BSZ40198 Upgrade or the TAA40104 Upgrade.
In both cases, it’s best to sign up for an info pack at the Cert IV TAE course page. An enrolment coordinators will contact you and discuss what you need to update your qualification. Cheers!
Hi, I’m wanting to do a cert 3 in children’s services and was wondering if having raised 4 kids might be a part of RPL
Hi Maree! Raising 4 kids is a tough job and gives great insight into the needs of children. This will surely be useful once you get into childcare, but it isn’t enough to RPL the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (formerly the cert III in children’s services). This is because the course teaches the skills in the context of how a child care facility operates.
Hi Inspire,
I hold a UK primary teaching degree & have 7 years teaching experience. My aim is to manage a Kindy & wanted this to include contact time with the kids. Would I be able to enrol in Diploma of Education & Care with my UK qualification & would the diploma be suffice for me to apply for jobs in this field?
Also, once enrolled, am I able to apply for jobs in Early Years establishments while studying?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Marie 🙂
Hi Marie! It looks like you have lots of work experience and you can definitely enrol in the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50113) because it doesn’t have any pre-requisites. Once you’re enroled, you can start applying for jobs in child care and early childhood facilities (because the Diploma is higher than the minimum requirement of the Cert III ECE). Just be aware that employers may require you to have experience first which you’ll get through the 240 placement hours of the course. For management or supervisor positions, hiring managers may look for more in depth work experience.
Whether you would be eligible for RPL or not is another matter. Do you have the transcript of your teaching degree? Or documents from your previous employer? RPL Assessors need to know what topics and skills you learned in order to determine if they are similar to the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Take a look at the course units for the Diploma course and see if it has something in common with your degree and previous work experiences.
You can also apply to have your UK degree recognised as equal to the Australian standard qualification by contacting ACECQA, the national regulator for early childhood education.
It’s best to speak with an RPL Assessor if you want to make sure that you maximize your prior experiences. Have you enquired and signed up for an information pack yet? Our friendly enrolment coordinators should be in contact with you soon to answer any questions you might have.
You might also want to take a look at the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Your degree and years of experience may be enough to fast track it for you.
I hope you achieve your goal of managing a kindy, Marie!
Cheers!
-Luke
Hello, I have a Bachelor of Education Junior Primary/ Primary (4 yrs of full-time university study). I have many years of teaching experience and I currently work as a Nanny. I am interested in the Cert 3 in childcare or the Diploma with a view to doing home care eventually, particularly to combine care of my own child whilst working. I would like to know about the type of recognition of prior learning and work experience. Also would like to know if a current job in childcare e.g. as a Nanny can contribute to the 120 childcare hours needing to be covered for the course. I would prefer to know upfront about RPL (rather than after enrolling) as this will contribute to my decision whether to enrol and in which course I would enrol in. Thankyou.
Hi Lottie! You can definitely apply for RPL with your teaching and work experience as a Nanny, but it’s hard to say how much you’ll get right now because it really depends on the evidence you can give. Here’s a brief description of the process to give you an idea of how much you can get:
1. RPL is given on a unit by unit basis so take a look at the units for the Certificate III or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. The Diploma is the best choice if you want to start your own Family Day Care because it is the national standard for higher positions like child care Managers and Directors.
2. Decide which units you want to apply for RPL. You should either have experience doing the skills involved in the unit or studied a similar unit in the past. Take note that many of the units emphasize teaching and caring for children in a child care setting so not all your experiences as a Nanny may be recognised.
3. Gather evidence that you already have the skills/knowledge taught in each unit. This can be work reports, task logbooks, documents that you helped created, testimonials from supervisors etc.
4. Submit all evidence to an RPL Assessor who will confirm and review it for you.
5. The RPL Assessor will let you know which units you can skip and which ones you have to take.
The 120 placement hours also have to be done in a registered child care facility. This means that your previous work as a Nanny may not be accepted, but it’s best to speak with our Course Coordinator to be sure. You can do that by enquiring on the Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care course page and leaving your contact details so you can be contacted. Let me know if you have more questions, Lottie! 🙂
I am a familycare educator, I am currently working, with 4 children under 5 and before/after school for over 25years,have been doing all that is required by government rules and regulations, can I rpl for diploma have cert 3. through tafe
Hi Christine! We need more details about your background, but just based on your short description it sounds like you can get RPL for the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Having the Certificate III already means that you can get a credit transfer towards the Diploma because they have several units in common. You can then RPL the remaining units if your experience in Family Day Care lines up with what the Diploma units teach.
Please enquire on the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course page so that our Course Coordinator can get in touch with you and help you out further. There’s an ongoing End-of-Financial-Year Special going on right now so make sure you enquire today before that ends. Let me know if you have more questions, Christine!
I’m considering enrolling in a cert iii disability. I have a cert iv and diploma in community welfare and a Bach. Of social sciences (social welfare).
My questions:
1. I have already completed some of the core units required for cert iii disabilty in my diploma .. Do I have to pay for them?
2. I have 7.5 years working experience in a disabilty day service.. Will this satisfy the placement?
3. Can you pick other electives (for example, ones I have already completed?)
Thanks
Hi TJ! Our Enrolment Coordinator can help you out with your questions. Just click here to enquire on the Cert III in Disability page so that you can speak with them personally and through email. Here are some quick answers in the meantime:
1. You can get a credit transfer for the units you’ve already completed (as long as you have evidence), but this won’t affect the course fee.
2. Vocational placement is difficult to gain RPL credit for because this experience is ideally aligned with the course competencies and requirements and also be current. You can bring up the 7 and half years worth of experience you already have with our Enrolment Coordinator to see if it satisfies the required number of hours.
Let me know if you need more help!
Hi Will
I had enrolled in the Cert IV in Human Resource with Inspire Education, but due to my husband falling ill and not having enough evidence to delay my studies I was unable to complete the course. Can I RPL the units that I did complete and start again.
Hi Agnes! Yes, we can most definitely give you credit for any units you successfully completed! When you enrol again, we can use your transcript (the one from Inspire or any other accredited training) and apply it to the course. You will then only need to complete the units you have not yet been signed off in.
If you have more question, feel free to send an enquiry so that our Enrolment Coordinator can help you out. You can enquire on the Cert IV Human Resources page.
Hi,
I need to get qualifications in the job I have been doing for over 5 years in aged and disability care, possible a Cert 3 or 4 in either aged, disability or home and community care.
Do I need to acquire a Cert 3 before attempting a Cert 4 in any of the courses ?
I have first aid and dementia care attainments, and was wondering if my workplace would be able to assess me for RPL ?
Hi Ly! You can go straight to the Certificate III in Aged Care, Disability and Home and Community Care because they have no pre-requisites. The Cert IV counterparts of Aged Care and Home & Community Care do have requirements that you can meet by gaining the Cert III qualification first.
For example, you must already possess the competencies taught by the core units of the Cert III in Aged Care before you can take up the Certificate IV. Same goes for the Certificate IV in Home and Community Care. The Certificate IV in Disability has no entry requirements.
RPL can be given if you have documents to support the qualifications you already hold. Do you still have certificates, statements of attainment etc of your training in first aid and dementia care? Feel free to speak with our Enrolment Coordinator more about this if you have more questions. You can give us your contact details so we can reach out to you by filling up the enquiry form here.
Let me know if you need help, Ly 🙂
Hi ya. I am a mother of a child diagnosed with autism. I was just curious if it is possible to use this experience/s to go towards RPL at all? Thank you.
Hi Sarita! What course are you planning to apply for RPL? Personal experiences are typically not enough to get recognition since formal documentation and a clear similarity with the course units of competency are required. But if you attended any formal training about caring for children and can submit proof like certificates and the coverage of your training, then you can apply. Just remember that the success of your application will still depend on how much your previous training and experiences line up with the course units.
If you’re curious about the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and RPL, please feel free to enquire on the Cert III course page so that our Enrolment Coordinator can contact you 🙂
I am about to finish my Diploma in Retail Management in November. I also have Cert 3 and 4 in retail. In addition I work as a Performance Coach in Retail and have been delivering company based training to my team for 3 years now with a high level of results. The company I work for is a large national electrical retailer wit structured programs etc. I have also done some training videos for all of our 100 stores and am regularly sought out by other stores for advice on implementing, coaching and training staff.
Is there RPL for this, and approximately how much. Just looking at the course outline I have already done, or regularly do most of these things on a daily basis
Hi Colin! Are you planning to take up the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment?
It sounds like you have heaps of relevant work experience that will be useful when you apply to RPL the Cert IV TAE. At this moment, it’s hard to say how much credit you’ll receive because our RPL Assessor still has to examine the evidence you’ll submit. Evidence gathering is a big part of the RPL process, but since your training programs are structured you likely have documents to back up your RPL claims such as training plans, attendance sheets, training reports, sample assessments of your staff and feedback from your supervisors. The RPL Assessor will look at these and compare your work responsibilities with the competencies of the course before giving you credit.
When you enrol in the Cert IV TAE, simply specify that you wish to apply for RPL and you will receive an RPL kit for free. This kit will contain a checklist of evidence for each unit (you can apply to RPL any number of units) that our RPL Assessor will use.
If you have more questions, feel free to speak with our Enrolment Coordinator. Simply enquire here on the Cert IV TAE course page and our Coordinator will reach out to you 🙂
I’ve just finished a four year contract with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation where I developed and delivered training to the teachers and parents of schools implementing the Kitchen Garden Program. I am interested in undertaking your Diploma of Training Design and Development. I don’t have any formal qualifications. Will this be a problem?
Hi Robyn! It sounds like you have heaps of training-related experience, but the Diploma of Training Design and Development has special requirements that you may not have yet.
There are no formal requirements to enrol in the Diploma course, but having a formal qualification like the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is strongly recommended. This is because the Diploma requires you to complete assessments for at least 50 units of competencies. Qualified trainers and assessors who hold the Cert IV TAE usually have access to these kind of assessments in their line of work delivering accredited training, but it may be difficult to complete in your workplace.
The Cert IV TAE may be a better choice for you because you can use your existing work experience in delivering training to gain Recognition of Prior Learning. This will lessen the number of units you actually have to study. You can speak with an Enrolment Coordinator first to see what course would be the best for you 🙂
You can reach our Enrolment Coordinator by enquiring on the Cert IV TAE course page with your email address. I hope that helps, Robyn. If you have more questions, just let me know!
Hi, I have been running the Taxi Driver Training courses in Launceston Tasmania from the beginning of 2014. I have been working for a training group based in Hobart under the supervision of the trainer manager and I have had to stop in July due to the new requirement that all trainers are required to have Cert IV TAE to run these courses.
I have been a taxi driver for nearly 20 years and I wanted to find out an estimate of how much RPL I would be credited with. I am not required to plan or develop courses as I just follow what is laid out by the training group that employs me. I do a basic literacy and numeracy assessment followed by 3 days of taxi training ending with a driving assessment on the 4th day.
Thank you for your time.
Hi John! RPL depends a lot on the amount of evidence you can provide, but here’s what you can do to get an idea of how much credit you can get:
1. Take a look at the Cert IV TAE course units
2. Check which units are related to your job responsibilities
3. Compile evidence (training reports, supervisor reports, feedback forms, etc) to show that you conducted those as part of your previous work
You can only get RPL if you have enough evidence and this can help you figure out the maximum units you can get under RPL. I hope that helps, John! Our Enrolment Coordinator will be able to help you out if you have more questions. Simply click here to enquire with your email and they’ll be in touch with you.
Hi,
I have completed my Cert III and the Hospitality Management Diploma at TAFE and have been working in the hospitality in house trainer for the last 3 years. I’m hoping to start my TAE. Can I RPL my TAE?
Please let me know.
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Chats
Hi Chats! If you have work experience in training, then it’s definitely possible for you to gain RPL. Take a look at the course units of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and check if your work responsibilities are similar to any of them. If there are similarities, prepare documents that prove you did those tasks since evidence is a big part of the RPL process.
To gain credit for your previous Cert III and Diploma qualifications, you need to look up the actual units you studied for them and check if any of those units are also in the Cert IV TAE.
It’s hard to say how much RPL you’ll get without looking at your evidence, but if you have more questions about this, feel free to enquire on the Cert IV TAE page so that our Enrolment Coordinator can help you out. Just click here to enquire.
I hope that helps, Chats!

I am an Inspector with WorkSafe Victoria, have a Diploma of Government (workplace inspection and investigation) Lead Auditor quals, TAE training and assessment, and would like to do the current Cert IV OHS qual. I am also an asbestos recognised inspector, lift, and dangerous goods inspector. Do you think these quals and experience would achieve RPL?
Hi Rob! Your work experiences and qualifications will definitely be useful when you apply for RPL. It’s difficult to say right away how much credit you’ll receive since we’ll have to get more details about your actual work reponsibilities and a copy of your Diploma and Certificate. Feel free to speak with our Enrolment Coordinator if you want to find out more about how you can RPL the latest Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. Just click here and enquire with your email and you’ll be contacted soon.
Let me know if you need more help!
Hi, i would like to do my diploma in early childhood education, i completed my cert 3 in chldrens services in 2006, DCHC30402. I also hold the latest first aid certificate. I have worked as a family day carer for 6 years, and as a kindergarten assistant for the last 8 years. How much RPL will i be able to get and can i fast track my diploma because i have my cert 3. Also, can the work placement hours be done at the place i am employed?
Thanks
Naomi
Hi Naomi! It sounds like you have heaps of prior experience already. Yes, you can fast track the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care because you have the old Cert III in Children’s Services. You can enrol in the fast track course which will give you credit for several of the units that you’ve already taken. It’s hard to say right now how much credit you’ll receive because we still have to know your exact work responsibilities to see if you can be given RPL for course units not covered by your Cert III.
Feel free to speak with our Enrolment Coordinator if you want to find out more about how you can RPL the Diploma of Child Care course. Just click here and enquire with your email and you’ll be contacted soon.
My 18 year son has assisted with care for his severely disabled brother for over 12 years. Can this be recognised through the RPL process or can there be any consideration of current competency?
Hi Alison! That’s a good question and one that we often receive from students. Experiences like that help a lot in completing a Cert III in Disability, Aged Care, or Home and Community Care, but they’re not always accepted for RPL. This is because RPL needs formal documents like tasks lists, feedback from your supervisors, work reports etc. to confirm that you are already competent. Also, these courses are nationally accredited and they focus on training you on how to be part of the aged care industry with all its quality standards and safety and compliance regulations. These may be lacking in your son’s personal experiences.
Your son’s experience as a carer will still be significantly helpful, particularly when he gets into vocational placement, but he won’t necessarily received course credits for it. Please feel free to speak with our Enrolment Coordinator if you have more questions about this. Simply click here to enquire with your email and message and our Coordinator will contact you 🙂
Hi! My name is Helen. I worked as a teacher of English in Ukraine for 17 years. Last year got married and relocated to the Gold Coast because my husband lives here. I am a highly experienced teacher of English language and literature. My Diploma is comparable to Australian Bachelor Degree (it was evaluated by the Queensland department of Education). My career highlights include becoming a winner of Excellence in Teaching Program in 2009 and studying in George Mason University, USA. Although my University degree has been recognized, it looks like it does not mean a lot as all my working experience was overseas and I have to start from a zero point. I am thinking of doing Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Can I do a short course for qualified teachers? If yes, can I have a recognition of my prior learning and experience?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,
Helen.
Hi Helen! It looks like you have heaps of experience already and this can help you a lot in your Cert IV in Training and Assessment. You don’t necessarily have to start from zero again since you can still apply for RPL as long as you have documents and other evidence that prove your competency in training and assessment. For example, you may be eligible for the Teachers’ Fast Track course if your degree is equivalent to the degrees/qualifications teachers in Australia commonly have. Our Enrolment Coordinator can help you figure out what you need to be eligible for RPL or the Teachers’ Fast Track Course. Just enquire and send us a message on the Cert IV TAE page and our Enrolment Coordinator can reach out to you 🙂
Hi there , I have been working 20 plus years as an optometrist but due to heath reasons cannot continue. I’m considering a career change. I am wondering if there is a combined certificate II and Iv please.
I have empathy for older people and am wondering whether you have other skilled professionals like me changing to aged care. I do not think I’d get any exemptions…?.
Thank you.
Hi Rita! We don’t offer certificate II courses, but the Certificate III in Aged Care is one of the most popular minimum qualifications that employers look for today. You can also take up a double certificate III in Aged Care and Home and Community Care to maximise your study time since they share lots of similar course units. You may also gain recognition for your previous work experiences if they are aligned with the skills taught in the Aged Care course. Please take a look at course units of the Cert III in Aged Care and check if you can provide documents and other evidence that you are already competent in those skills.
If you have any questions, feel free to enquire and send us a message on the Cert III in Aged Care page so that our Enrolment Coordinator can help you out 🙂
I am doing a Bach. Commerce (Accounting major) through Deakin University, I have completed all (but 1) core commerce units, and 50% of the accounting and economics majors, My Weighted Average Mark (WAM) score is currently 78 (distinction average). I have deferred study until November 2016, what sort of RPL could i expect to receive if undertook the Cert IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting?
Hi Anthony! It’s hard to say exactly how much RPL you can get right now because university degrees often have different study outcomes from courses like the Cert IV in Bookkeeping and Accounting. To get a rough idea of how much you can get, you can take a look at the course units and check if you covered those skills in your previous study. Remember that you will have to submit evidence that you are already competent in those units to gain RPL. If you want to find out more about how to RPL your course, simply enquire and leave us a message on the Cert IV Bookkeeping or Cert IV Accounting page and our Enrolment Coordinator will help you out 🙂
I am from South Africa and is working in Australia and busy with our residency.

It is urgent.
Willie
Hi Petrus! Yes, you can enrol in the course you want (Cert IV WHS or Cert IV TAE) and send over your qualifications so that our RPL Specialist can examine your background and check if you can be given Recognition of Prior Learning. Please visit the Cert IV WHS course page or the Cert IV TAE course page to get a free infopack with the instructions on how to enrol and apply for RPL.
Hi there,
I am holding a Bachelor degree in Nursing from an Indian university and currently lives in NSW. I have more than 3 years of clinical nursing experience back in India. I would like to know more about Cert III in Aged Care program conducted by Inspire Education. I have already received info pack after registering in your website. I want to know my bachelor degree will enable me to gain RPL. Many thanks
Hi Neethu! Our Enrolment Coordinator can help you out by describing how the RPL process works. Have you already been contacted?
Hi I need to upgrade from BSZ to TAE. I have extensive training experience plus have written course workbooks and final assessments for RTO. Also have Masters of Nursing (Education) and Cert IV TESOL, assessment experience.
How much does your RPL process cost?
Hi Liz! It looks like you have a good chance of gaining RPL for several units of the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. The RPL process is free when you enrol so you won’t pay anything extra. Simply indicate on your enrolment form that you would like to apply for RPL and our RPL Assessor will give you an RPL Kit and will be in touch to help you gather the documents you need. Please enquire here on the Cert IV TAE page today to get more details about this and our latest pricing.
in 2013 I did my certificate 3 in early childhood education however due to my dad getting cancer and needing full time care could not complete the work placement and therefore didn’t get my qualification, I’m just wondering what sort of credit would I get. If I decided to do the diploma instead of the certificat 3 again?
I also work for an after school care can I make up my work placement hours through this organisation??
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Ellen
Hi Ellen! Do you still have a statement of attainment for the units you completed for your Certificate III? Many of the Cert III units are also in the Diploma so you may be able to get credited for those and not need to study those units all over again. For your work placement, it’s hard to say right now because our training team will have to contact your after school care employer first and check if they can fulfill the rquirements for registered child care facilities. Hope that helps you, Ellen!
If you have more questions, please feel free to enquire and send our Enrolment Coordinator a message. Simply click here to enquire on the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care page.
I have 10 years of teaching experience. I had been teaching computer sc subjects to undergraduate and graduate studnts in a government college in india. I have done b.sc maths and masters in computer applications.am i eligible for rpl???
Hi Meenu! What course are you interested in? We need to look at your actual qualifications and documents that describe your work experience to be sure of your RPL eligibility.
Hi i am intersted in TAE cert IV, how can i contact you so that i can show you my documents. What is the minimum duration for this course?? N whats d fees???
Hi Meenu! Please click here to enquire on the Cert IV TAE course page. Our Enrolment Coordinator will then contact you to answer any questions you might have about your course 🙂
Good afternoon,
I am currently studying Certificate III in Education and Care, and was wondering elligibility for Workplace Effectiveness units. I have a statement of attainment for subjects:
– BSBHRM402A
– BSBOHS407A – Moniter a safe workplace
-BSBWOR402A – Promote team effectiveness
I have also worked for the past three years in a team environment (in administration), with prior experience (two years) in hospitality as a team leader.
I am applying for a job as a business trainer at a RTO and would like to get RPL. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communications studies majoring psychology and a postgraduate degree in business, Human Resource management. In the post grad I majored in learning and development and did units such as Foundations of training program design and the facilitation of learning. Would this count as a cert 4 in TA or would i need to do more study? I have been working as a Human resource practitioner for the last 18 years and run my own consultancy for the past 10 years. The trainer role would see me training in HR.
Hi Jodie! It sounds like you have heaps of industry experience already and that will certainly help in gaining RPL for course units. However, it’s likely not enough to give you the full Cert IV TAE because the course has specific requirements unique from bachelor and graduate degrees. The good news is, you may only have to undergo training for the units you won’t gain RPL to gain the qualification. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask our Enrolment Coordinator by enquiring on the Cert IV Training and Assessment course page here.
Hi I’ve been doing a cert iv in bookkeeping with another institute and my course timed out last year with only one unit left. Would I be able to get RPL for this course as I really need to finish it for my employment??
Hi Aimee! Yes, you can get RPL for the units you’ve completed and then do gap training for the unit you didn’t finish. Do you have a Statement or Attainment that has a list of the units you’ve completed? Hi
I have completed my Master of Business Administration (MBA) from my home country NEPAL and various training, workshops and orientation on disability including 3 months long residential disability course from Nepal. For that purpose, I want to do disability course (Certificate III or IV). Will I get RPL in this course. I got all the original certificate what I have achieve in past in disability. Can you please suggest me what is exactly where and who should I contact directly to get it done so that I can start my career in this field.
Hi Tirtharaj! It sounds like you have significant experience already in disability and that will help you out in your course. First, we still have to look at your actual certificate and documents about your owrk experience before we can make any decisions about RPL. Please enquire here on the Cert III Disability course page (now called the Cert III in Individual Support) so that our Enrolment Coordinator can answer your questions.
I was a driver tester for the RMS for 5 years. I was made redundant a year ago so haven’t worked this job for a year. Will I get PRL for the assessing component?+
Hi Cass! The usual time frame to assess your industry currency is usually 12 months, but you may still have other RPL opportunities. To get a better idea, we still have to take a look at your actual work history and any relevant qualifications you hold. Please click here to enquire on the Cert IV Training and Assessment course page so that you can speak with our Enrolment Coordinator who can help explain the RPL process to you.
Just a quick question, I am studying Certificate III in Aged Care with Open Colleges, I will not have time to complete the Practical part of the course, I will be recieving A Certificate of Attainment approximately around 5th of August. Can I use this for a RPL, to continue the course with you?
Hi Kathleen! Yes, statements of attainment can be used for RPL. However, we’ll have to take a closer look at your case and see if you can gain recognition because the CHC30212 Certificate III in Aged Care course has already been superseded by the new CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) course. Please feel free to send a message to our Enrolment Coordinator by enquiring here on the Cert III Individual Support page to get more details about RPL in your aged care course.

For your other work experiences, we will have to look at what evidence you can provide to see if they can be mapped with the TAE40110 units.
I am in my early 60’s. I was originally a primary teacher with a diploma. I have my cert 111 in childcare and am thinking of gaining my diploma. I have worked in the industry for about 10 years. I am wondering how much rpl will I gain?
Hi Robyn! What is the Certificate III qualification you hold now? If it’s the latest Cert III in Eary Childhood Education and Care, then you can get a credit transfer for many of the units because the Diploma contains units from the Cert III. It’s hard to say right now how much additional RPL you will get for your existing work experience since we will have to check the evidence you will provide. Please click here to enquire on the Diploma course page so that you can send a message and speak with our Enrolment Coordinator and get more details about RPL.
Hi, I come from Poland but I hold a Master Degree in English studies (minor) from a university in Germany. Is that enough to prove my knowledge of the English language? The studies required a very high level of English, spoken and written, as all subjects were conducted in English. I am interested in one of your TESOL courses. I also completed the Language Teaching Certificate on University of Sydney. Thanks for your help.
Hi Anna. If you have the documents that support your competency and knowledge, then you may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning. You may also enquire here to know more about the Certificate IV in TESOL.

Hello,
I am looking at various options in regards to gaining some level of qualification in Work Health and Safety.
I am currently employed as an Advanced Care Paramedic Level II with Queensland Ambulance Service and have been for the last 6 years or so, with 2 years additional working experience as a student Paramedic prior to that.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science (Paramedics). I have also completed numerous in house training packages within QAS, including QASWH15A QAS HR Workplace Health & Safety. Additionally I have completed numerous other training packages pertaining to safety education and practices, including updating clinical skills, fraud awareness, ethics and legal training, manual handling, situational awareness, mental health, fatigue management, conflict management etc.
While I do not have any sort of formal training qualification as such, I have significant experience in mentoring students on road, through the various stages of their training and internship.
I also have some experience working directly with OH&S staff on a natural gas pipeline project for around 18 months, where part of my role was to train other non-medical staff in St John Ambulance QLD’s First Aid Plus+ course, and then to conduct the assessment for the course. I also conducted brief refreshers on the training relating to any current issues that had occurred on site, such as snake bite management, identification and management of heat related illness, recognising and managing fatigue, CPR refreshers etc.
While my primary role there was as a paramedic I was also responsible for on site drug and alcohol testing (which I have a certificate in), basic primary health care and assisting in developing on site public health practices and education.
In addition to this I worked directly with the OH&S staff to make sure policy and procedures were followed, and also to identify and report on any hazards or incidents that occurred, and to assist in developing and implementing measures to correct these issues.
While I realise you likely will be unable to provide me with a specific answer I was hoping for a general idea as to whether my background would grant me any significant recognition of prior learning towards obtaining a qualification in Work Health & Safety or even Training and Assessment?
Please let me know, I have already attempted to make contact via email but unfortunately have not received a response.
Hi Nick. If you have the documents to support your competency as evidence, then you may be able to get RPL. Recent work experiences will also be considered. Kindly send us an enquiry here so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you.

I did a WorkPlace Trainer and Assessor Cert IV in I think it was 1997. It took nearly 6 months part time. I still have a certificate of achievement but not the full certificate. I thought I needed to do a couple of units to get a current Cert IV but I think there is a new Cert IV now. Will my cert of achievement be enough to get RPL?
Hi Theresa. Yes, there is a new Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. It has more stringent requirements compared to the superseded qualification, as vocational placement is now required. If you have the documents and industry experience to support your competence, then you may be assigned to the Intermediate Cohort upon your enrolment. Please enquire here so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you.

Prof Balaji
Hi Professor Balaji. Your extensive industry experience in Business, Sales, and as a teacher will definitely help you in your course if you have the evidence to demonstrate your background. Nationally accredited qualifications are stringent when it comes to skills and knowledge and it’s not enough that you have experience in the industry. You will need to provide the necessary documents to prove your competence in the said skills to gain Recognition of Prior Learning. The same thing applies to other qualifications. Academic degrees like Doctorate and Master’s Degrees are different from vocational education, which are competency-based. This means that you have to provide evidence that your other degrees meet the specific requirements of each course unit. We recommend asking your training provider since your evidences need to be examined to give an estimate of how much credit you can gain.
Hi ,
Can i use Singapore qualification (Advanced certificate in training and assessment) to do RPL for certificate 4 in training and assessment?

I am considering doing Cert III Education Support to become a Teachers Aide.
I have completed and hold a Cert IV in Youth Work.
Would there be any units in the Cert III Education Support that may fall under RPL? If yes, is my Cert IV in Youth enough evidence to support the RPL process?
Thanking you in advance.
=)
Thanks for your interest, Michelle. As long as you have the necessary documents, like your actual Certificate IV in Youth Work, that proves your competence in the relevant units, then you may get RPL. Our Enrolment Coordinator will be glad to discuss this further with you. Please enquire here at the Cert III Education Support page to get in touch.
Hello,
I have a Diploma in Community Services and a BA in Community Services – Community Development. I have over ten years experience working in the disability sector, but would like to work with clients requiring aged care support. i undertook many in-house training courses in disability which I believe would provide some transferable skills and knowledge. I currently have some employment in both disability and aged care, but some organisations specifically request Certificate 3 in Aged Care. There are many reasons why I would like to work in this setting full-time permanent. I’m especially interested in learning the Montessori Model in Aged Care settings. I believe I engage well with aged care clients. I enjoy the work and get a great deal of job satisfaction. I would be very grateful if you can advise. Thank you.
Hi Jo. You can certainly enrol in our Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) course. And with your background and experience, you can apply for RPL. You only have to provide the necessary documents to support your competency. Our Enrolment Coordinator will be glad to discuss further. Please enquire here at the Individual Support (Ageing) course page to get in touch.
Hello,
I am looking for a career change .Over the past 10 years I worked in industry and university as a Business Anlayst/Software developer.I hold Bachelor of Engineering and Masters of Technology qualifications.I am currently working for a university.
I am interested to avail ‘Diploma in Community Service’ course. If I produce all the supporting documents, will I able to get credit for my qualification and experience?.

Hi Jo. If your supporting documents prove your competency in the relevant units included in the Diploma of Community Services course, then yes, they will be credited. Uni degrees may not cover the same subjects in the VET qualification, so they will still need to be checked. You may get in touch with our Enrolment Coordinator to know more details. Simply send us an enquiry here at the Diploma of Community Services course page.
Hello,
I am applying for work as a sessional staff member (basically a tutor) at a university law department. The uni prefers that applicants hold or are undertaking study toward Cert IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116). I am therefore considering undertaking this Cert IV course with your organisation.
I would like to know if I might be able to gain any credits for my other qualifications & experience, as follows:
Qualifications (all from universities in Melbourne): LLB (Bachelor of Laws); Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice; Bachelor of Commerce; Bachelor of Arts; Master of Supply Chain Management;
Work experience: over 2 years experience as a law tutor (sessional staff) at an Australian university law dept.
Also, I have a CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) qualification plus more than 2 years teaching English to foreign students
Regards,
Tony
Hi Anthony. Please enquire here at the Certificate IV Training and Assessment page so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you to discuss the process for recognition of prior learning.
Hello Inspire team
I am wishing to undertake the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and am wondering whether any of my existing qualifications and experience could count towards RPL for this qualification? I have the following qualifications:
Master of Creative Industries (Dance Teaching)
Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (Teaching and Learning)
Advanced Teaching Diploma of the Royal Academy of Dance
Diploma of The Royal Ballet School Teachers’ Training Course
Certificate IV in Pilates Matwork Instruction
I am currently studying for a Doctor of Creative Industries at QUT.
I have 40 years’ of dance teaching experience in the private dance studio, vocational full-time and university dance program contexts. I am also an Examiner, Tutor and Practical Teaching Supervisor for the Royal Academy of Dance.
If you could please advise me of the process for checking whether any RPL is possible, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Julia Barry
Hi Julia. Thanks for your interest. By presenting evidence for your qualifications and extensive experience, you can certainly get credits for the relevant competencies. Hi Sharon. You can certainly use them. Upon the commencement of your course, your trainer will assess your experience and previous qualifications to determine if you can do the Diploma through RPL. Please enquire here at the Ed Support course page so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you to discuss.
I am currently working as a teacher aide and have been for the last 3 1/2 years but with no formal qualifications.
What steps would I have to take to be eligible for RPL?
Hi Pam. How are you? Thanks for getting in touch with us. With your background, you certainly should try applying for RPL to get formally qualified. To do so, you need to be able to provide documents that prove your competency in the relevant units in the qualification. These documents can include your resume, job description, or any references from your work history. Our Enrolment Coordinator can explain the entire process to you. Please enquire here at the Cert III Ed Support page to get in touch.

Hi there, I am interested in doing the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I have my diploma in community services/childcare division and completed the majority of the bachelor of education course. I have also been assessing students on and off for over 10 years as various early learning centres i have worked. Would be eligible to have any of this RPL?
thank you
Hi Helene. The TAE40110 course is now closed to give way to the newer TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. If you are able to provide evidences and documents to prove your extensive experience in assessing students, then you may get credited. Please enquire here at the Certificate IV Training and Assessment page to get in touch with our Enrolment Coordinator.
Hi there,
I was wondering if I would be eligible to claim any RPL for certificate Iv in assessment and training with a diploma in early childhood education and care, I am currently working fulltime in a long day care centre and I am the room leader in the nursery at present. I also undertake the task of being a supervisor to 2 certificate 3 trainees. I also fill the role of certified supervisor at times at the centre I work at.
Hi Marilyn. Thanks for your interest. It seems that you have an extensive background in supervising a team in your workplace. If you are able to provide evidences for that, and our trainer deems it equivalent to units in the TAE40116 qualification, then you may get credited. Please do enquire here at the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course page so our Enrolment Coordinator can get in touch with you.

Hi Rob. That’s certainly a good list of qualifications and experiences. What course are you looking to enrol in?
Hi
Hi am interested in childcare education in Nsw.
I have overseas qualification and 18yrs of teaching experience in primary schools. I do have it on an official document. Was wondering if my qualification and experience credits towards the diploma or certificate in Childcare education.
Thanks for your interest, Dorin. Your qualification and experiences will be reviewed by an RPL Specialist once you’ve enrolled. They seem relevant and you say you have the documents, so there might be a good chance of getting credited. Please enquire here at the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care course page to talk to our Enrolment Coordinator.
