Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 – A Clustered Approach

There are many different ways in which to package the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 qualification, and there are also different ways to teach the principles and units contained within it. Some Australian training organisations present TAE40110  in a unit-by-unit way, with learners have to complete one unit at a time before moving to the next. While this can sometimes be an effective way to learn, the view of our training team at Inspire Education is that it doesn’t always represent “best practice”. After all, many of the design, assessment, and delivery components of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 Course have cross-over skills, that is many essential skills and knowledge required in each Cert IV TAE units are common to many different units.

For this reason, our training organisation (Inspire Education) choose to “cluster” 10 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Course TAE40110 units into three workbooks: design; delivery; and assessment. This migration of our Cert IV TAE course into 3 Learner Guides and Assessment workbooks is shown below:

TAEASS401A— Plan assessment activities and processes Assessment Cluster
TAEASS402A— Assess competence

As you can see, by clustering the TAE40110 qualification units in this way it maximises a learners time by teaching training and assessment in a holistic way and reducing redundancy and repetition. This is the way all students that undertake our Cert IV Training and Assessment course navigate through our course, and has proven an extremely effective method of imparting the knowledge of sound design, delivery and assessment practices and processes.
